Our Story – Three Generations Strong

“Crafting gates isn’t just our job—it’s our family legacy.”

We’ve been part of the joinery world for decades. It all started when I followed in my dad’s footsteps—tinkering with wood and building small projects from the age of nine. Nearly 40 years on, the smell of sawdust and the satisfaction of quality timberwork still drive us every day.

Our business journey began under the name The Joinery Guys, but as our focus sharpened to crafting strong, beautiful gates, we became Boss Gates. Still, something didn’t sit quite right.

Then in February 2021, everything changed. I lost my dad. Not long after, I had a serious moped accident and broke my leg. For a while, it felt like the end of the road.

But legacy doesn’t fade—it grows stronger. By January 2022, I knew our name needed to mean more. That’s when Bob’s Gates was born—named in honour of my dad, Bob. It gave us new life, new purpose, and a powerful reminder of where we came from.

Today, we’re based in Speke, Liverpool, building every gate with heart, skill, and pride. And the story continues—with my own son, my dad’s grandson, now proudly joining the team. With his help in the workshop, I’ve been able to focus on what’s next: building the business, streamlining operations, and keeping our legacy going strong.
